Thomas Beckett was an Archbishop of Canterbury. He died because of a conflict between him and Henry II due to the Constitutions of Clarendon. It caused a quarrel because King Henry II's effort was to bring the power away from the church courts and to the royal courts. Four knights killed him in front of the main altar of Canterbury Cathedral. In 1173, the church named him a saint. Yet interestingly still, the Constitutions of Clarendon stood. Have a nice day!
