When he was released from the carbonite, he had a temporary illness called "hibernation sickness" which made him temporarily blind.

there are a few like general grevious and in the clone wars series ashoka gets her lightsaber stolen and the thief uses it to fight ashoka and this realy old jedi helping ashoka. also ferris olan (an ex-jedi) uses one when he finds out the jedi have been destroyed.
