They were both girls. I always thought blue was a boy, until I got a computer game where they kept calling Blue "The Birthday Girl". So now the only thing I couldn't tell you about this subject, is "Why was Magenta added to Blue's Clues?" (maybe it got too boring.), "Why did Magenta have glasses?" (probably the same reason Simon does.), and "Were Blue and Magenta sisters or friends?" (I'd say friends.)
