Applicants must not exceed the maximum entry age of 37 at the time of appointment as a NCIS special agent. Applicants will be prompted to utilize fax imaging via USAjobs to upload college transcripts and, if applicable, a Notification of Personnel Action (SF-50), and Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty (DD-214). A SF-50 is only required if you are a current or prior federal employee. A DD-214 is only required if you have ever served in the U.S. Armed Forces. It is highly recommended that applicants additionally provide a Questionnaire for National Security Positions (SF-86). Prior military and/or law enforcement experience is not a prerequisite for employment. NCIS has a very competitive hiring posture and is continuously seeking applicants who possess a combination of education and experience. As a condition of employment all special agents are required to sign a mobility agreement which may result in one or more overseas moves and periodic assignments within the Continental United States (CONUS) throughout an agent's career with NCIS. In addition, special agents may be required to deploy on assignments to support military forces in high-risk environments. Special agent mobility is necessary to accomplish the Agency's mission and helps support an individual's career development. NCIS offers voluntary service, non-paid, internship positions within NCIS Headquarters and many field office components. On average, NCIS hosts 150 interns annually. As a condition of employment, applicants are required to pass an extensive NCIS employment suitability investigation during the hiring process. This investigation includes a urinalysis test for illegal drug use, credit and records checks, in-depth interviews with former and current colleagues, neighbors, friends, professors, etc., and employment and educational verifications. In addition, a personnel security investigation is required of all newly appointed special agents in order to obtain a Top Secret Security Clearance Applicants must possess a US-born or naturalized citizenship. Permanent residents are not eligible to apply for a special agent position. NCIS special agents are required to carry firearms and periodically qualify with their service weapon. Firearm instruction is included in the basic agent training program. All new hires who are not currently GS/GL-1811 special agents must attend the Criminal Investigators Training Program (CITP) at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), Glynco, GA. The NCIS specific Special Agent Basic Training Program (SABTP) will immediately follow the CITP training in Glynco. All special agents newly appointed to NCIS are required to attend the SABTP. The training provides instruction on the NCIS report writing system, manuals, and field training exercises. Additional training in computer forensics, foreign counterintelligence, foreign language, economic crimes, interview and interrogation, hostage negotiation, forensics and/or management are available throughout the Agent's career.
if you go onto the NCIS official websites it has a thing that says "join NCIS" or something you click on that and i think you can make enquiries pretty easy. they have to many applications this year but maybe you could apply for next year. i bet your signing up because of the TV show, but hey that's the only reason i went on the website to.

He was offered by Hetty if i remember correctly somewhere in season 3 to became a full NCIS agent instead of being LAPD-NCIS Liaison Officer but he turned it down saying he is not ready yet. The paper Hetty gave him to join NCIS officially is mentioned later on but he never signed it. So till today's current season which at the time of the writing is season 11 his official position is LAPD-NCIS Liaison Officer

He was offered by Hetty if i remember correctly somewhere in season 3 to became a full NCIS agent instead of being LAPD-NCIS Liaison Officer but he turned it down saying he is not ready yet. The paper Hetty gave him to join NCIS officially is mentioned later on but he never signed it. So till today's current season which at the time of the writing is season 11 his official position is LAPD-NCIS Liaison Officer
