A movie rating of G means that the all ages are admitted as there is nothing in them that would upset or be bad for anyone, as decided by the Motion Picture Association. The 'G' means general audiences [ie everyone] is admitted.

pg stands for parental guidence, so it literally means that children from age 5 upwards may watch the film, but only in the company of an adult
