There really isn't a need for Christians to study Judaism as Christianity was based on the rejection of Judaism. One of the only similarities between the two religions is that the Christian Old Testament was based on the Tanach (Jewish Bible), however, the Christian OT was altered to support the teachings of Christianity.
Similarities--same Bible. What one calls the Tanakh, the other calls the Old Testament. Same God. Differences--whether or not Jesus is the Messiah. Jews don't believe this. Christians do. Christianity is a "branch" off Judaism. The relationships between the two religions has been problematic as Christians participated in pogroms, the Holocaust, and currently influence U.S. policy with Israel. The current pope enraged many Jews as he reinstated a holocaust denier as bishop.

No They are two independent religions
A comparative analysis of these two religions would show the similarities and the differences between them. One similarity is that they both worship (or claim to worship!) the same God. One difference is that Judaism is still awaiting the messiah, whereas Christianity believes that Jesus Christ is/was the messiah. There are many more similarities and differences, which a comprehensive comparative analysis will show.
