All songs with lyrics have poetic elements. This is the nature of music. The very earliest poetry was actually written to be sung. Below you can find some songs with lyrics that contributors believe to exemplify poetic quality:

  • "Good Riddance" by Greenday
  • "Drops of Jupiter" by Train
  • "Land of Confusion" by Genesis and Disturbed
  • Pretty much anything by Sting, the Police, the Eagles, Foreigner, Styx, Asia, etc.
  • "Firework" by Katy Perry

WTF collective 2 - Jon Lajoie.

"I shake things up like J Fox when i get on the mic,

then i drop my enemies, just like Christopher Reeves Horse,

Then i put them to sleep, like Heath Ledger of course"

Highly offensive, as in the song its sung by " MC extremely inappropriate rhymes", but it is a use of similes.

Simile: Comparing two things using like, or as.

There are many songs with litarary devices in them but a great one is Love Story by Taylor Swift . Or you could also try Fireflies by Owl City that song has a lot of similes in it. Ice Ice baby has a lot of similes in it and one or two onamatopoeias.
