Sam Houston was a famous Texas leader. He was originally a politician from Tennessee, and even had a chance to run for President of America. He was very close to Andrew Jackson. Even before his political career Sam Houston ran away from home and lived with Native Americans, and even tried to improve their lives later in his political career. After being a politician in Tennessee he went to Texas and fell in love with it. He ended up leading the Texas revolution and he became president of Texas for two terms. Eventually Texas became part of America 1945.
