I haven't ever heard of the book, but maybe??anyone?? The only clue I saw was before the show begins they present some paintings of western life, one of the paintings shows a man sitting reading a book with the title bonanza on it. but the only way to find the answer is to contact the shows originators and find out from them how the idea for the show came about.
Bonanza lasted from September 12, 1959 to January 16, 1973 .
The Ponderosa was in Nevada Territory in the TV show Bonanza.
No, not Bonanza, it was a show called "The Marriage" in 1954. Bonanza was one of the few prime time shows of that era to be in color, but not the first.
I don't remember any catfights in any of the Bonanza episodes.

"Ponderosa" was a TV show that aired from 2001-2002. It was a prequel to the popular show "Bonanza," focusing on the Cartwright family in the 1840s. The show was not as successful as "Bonanza" and was canceled after only one season.
