hi,

i am french and English (live in France) and i have noticed a big difference with women. I find that in England they tend to make the first step a lot more with men, whereas in France it works the other way round. For this reason i don't mind going back to England every summer.

thank you

There are many differences. Some are.....

1. the political systeme - France is a socialist republic; the US is supposed to be a democracy.

2. the monetary systeme - France uses the Euro which is calculated differently than the dollar.

3. the food - as with all countries, the foods are prepared differently between the 2 cultures. The french foods tend to be richer, often thicker, more robust and flavorful. Also, french food portions tend to be much. much smaller than US.

4. the french have a different set of moral standards. Though people are people, and mankind is basically the same everywhere, the french tend to have a better appreciation of beauty and the arts than US counterparts; further, we don't see nudity as purely sexual as in the US.

5. mostly, the greatest difference, IMO, is lifestyle. The french have a great love and respect for homeland, history, culture, the arts, and life in general. The US culture seems to place more value on monetary and material gains over a simple but good quality of life. Many things that the french stop and admire, the english culture (US not British) simply doesn't care about.

Probably the greatest similarity is the language. In actuality, there are many words in each that are in common usage in the other. Other similarities might include some world political opinion (we are allies), and some forms and rules of government.
