There is a talk about mobiles are not safe. People say that if the child is under 16 and has a mobile they might get brain cancer. If your child is begging for a phone wait till there in secondary school. Apparently everyone at high school has one and you don't want them to feel left out. In till they are 16 say that he/she can only use it for short calls and texting. That's what i recommend.

Juliet Schor, a professor of sociology at Boston College in the US and a leading researcher on children and consumerism, claims that children's 'involvement in consumer culture causes dysfunction in the forms of depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and psychosomatic complaints'.

I think that kids Above 11 should be aloud mobiles under control of parents and when they have gained trust should be aloud one at free will. this can be good for controling the children because if there is bad behaviour then there can be no top up or it can be removed from them !

Also kids should be allowed phones at the end of primary school as they may need one in secendry school

Studies made have shown that although children's mobile phones are marketed to parents for security reasons, to the children, this is not the only reason why they want to own mobile phones; majority are exhibiting signs of status, aesthetic, and competitive motivated consumption. They have developed a desire to keep up with their peers.

From the same study, researchers have found that the concern of tweens over the brand and look of their phones, coupled with a desire for the latest technology and newest product, reflects the materialistic values some children now have. While the adoption of these values threatens to commercialize children's childhood as they define their goals in material terms, it could also negatively affect their development. because its no fair adults have it and they play games and could talk to friends and stuff like that. Its not good but who really cares? To conect with adults and friends Another AnswerBy allowing your child to have a mobile phone, it means they can easily contact their parents or other family members and vice versa. It could be useful if there is an emergency at school or some other event where the child and parents need to be able to contact each other quickly. If you're worried about your child having a phone then you could consider only allowing them to have it whilst they're at school so you can monitor their usage on it.

No. They put out radiation, texting lowers grammar capabilities, all the stuff you hear about sexting and cyberbullying, and It costs a lot of money. If you must get one, get one that only calls.

^fail

I think that children that reach a certain age or have to walk long distances to get home or to a bus stop should have a cell phone, just incase something happens and they can pick up their phone and easily call someone for help, but then again I don't think all children should have cell phones because it does take away attention from getting an education and you can do a lot with cell phones now a days to where you can cheat very easily with them.

  1. No child should have a phone taken away!
  2. A phone is an excellent idea!
  3. It will depend on the child. If it becomes their 'life' and they can't live without it, they probably shouldn't have one.
