I don't know! I've been looking for it for awhile now, that's how I found this.
It's quite aggravating. Sorry, that may have not been much help. But I had to get that out.

Many people think it IS based on a book, because when you do a Google search (or other search engine), you get the answer of "The Skeleton Key, an Alex Rider series, written by Anthony Horowitz" which is actually a series of novels about a 14-year-kid male learning about the death of his guardian and uncle, and moving more into how he was assassinated while working for M16, and further into how Alex Rider was recruited by M16, and so on and so on.
But, the movie is not based on a book. Generally, you can get the name of the movie by noticing the key that Violet gives Caroline is a skeleton key. A skeleton key, being a key that opens all the doors in one area, and has the long shaft, a round or equally shaped end, and just a few teeth, that protrude from the key itself.
I recently saw the movie, and I actually did think I read it in a book. But, then again, this is also the person who, for the first time in her entire life, watched the movie A Haunting in Connecticut, and without even knowing about the History channel shows and other materials relating, had actually seen the movie before. It's rather odd, but I;m used to it.
Well it depends on your taste in books. It is a fiction teenage-age book. I personally really liked it along with the rest of the series. If you liked the previous books then you should like this one. If you have never read the previous books but this looks interesting to you, read the books that came before it first.
