Dachshund is having separation anxiety and does not like being left alone. I would create the dog when you are not home and he/she will probably not soil the crate as it would also soil the dog.

you should try and understand your dog and learn how it feels at times soon your dog will feel comfortable and let you understand it. Try not to bug it all the time. If your dog wants attention give it some like feeding or playing. If your dog doesn't want attentione then just leave it alone and let it do whatever it want to. Soon, you'll become best friend with your dog and will be able to explain and understand their feelings. BTW this works on other animals too not just dogs.

I do not usually leave my wheaten at home alone. If i leave her at home alone, I put her in her crate to avoid her peeing or making a mess on the floor. It really all depends on how trained your dog is. If it is a well trained dog, i would suppose so.... Most dog owners work out of the home and leave their dogs inside for the entire day. If the Yorkie is house-trained and has an ample amount of water available to it, there is absolutely no reason it cannot be left alone.
