I have had my PS3 for almost 3 years now with no problems, it is also noteworthy to mention that for those 3 years I was living in a desert where heat and dust were major issues. I would consider the PS3 well worth the money because unlike the Xbox 360 you can play Blue Ray on the core system without having to buy an additional hardware piece for it and it comes with an internal wireless adapter so that you can connect to the internet through wireless or Ethernet cable, and unlike Xbox live, the PlayStation Network is entirely free (unless you choose to buy downloadable content, then you have to pay for the content) So if you want to play COD4 with your buddies there is no monthly fee involved So basically if you want to use your gaming system as an HD video player as well as a gaming system, Go PS3 because of the integrated Blue Ray player. If you want to game online with your friends then go with the PS3 because you will eventually make up for the extra cost over an xbox with the money you saved by not paying for Xbox live. If you are more of a play by yourself type of person I would say pick whatever you want, but again I recommend PS3 because I have already had two 360's die with the red ring of death while my PS3 is still kicking.
