Prometheus Creates Man out of Clay

As a reward for his service to the Gods during the war with the Titans, Zeus rewarded Prometheus and his brother, Epimetheus with gifts of traits and asked them to create creatures. Prometheus shaped the beginnings of Man out of clay, and began to add traits to his beloved creations. But as he tried to add some more, he realized that his brother, Epimetheus, in foolishness, had used all of the traits and parts making animals and creatures other than humankind. So man was left without as many traits as animals.

Zeus chose the plate with fat, and when he realized he had been tricked, he couldn't change his decree, as his word was supreme.

Prometheus Steals Fire

Prometheus saw that his creations were cold, he felt sorry for them. So he planned to steal Fire from the torch on Apollo's chariot. He went up Mount Olympus, and took the torch when Apollo wasn't looking. He then gave the fire to the Humans, giving them a valuable and functional gift that ensured their survival. Zeus, however, wasnt pleased. He ordered that Prometheus be chained to Mount Caucasus and have his liver eaten out and regenerate daily by a vulture. So, Hephaestus chained Prometheus, and he endured his punishment for many years.

Prometheus is Rescued by Herkales

Prometheus warns his son, Deukalion, of the impending disaster and tells him to build a boat to survive the storm. Deukalion, and his wife Pyrrha survive, and repopulate the earth by throwing stones behind them, as instructed by an oracle of Themis, which turn into Humans.
