The number of single-sex schools in France is close to nothing. A law passed in the sixties made it mandatory for primary schools to teach to mixed classes encompassing boys and girls. This is not questioned today as parents care more about the quality of education and the dedication of teachers rather than having single-sex schools.
Private schools, many of them Catholic, are supported by the state (the teachers are paid by the state) on condition they provide the same curriculum than public schools. It is possible that private, not state-supported schools still segregate students. A handful of small, religious (all of them Muslim) schools have made the news along these lines, but the bottom line is everybody goes to mixed school.

Single-sex schools should only be banned if they perpetuate harmful gender stereotypes or limit educational opportunities for students. The decision to ban single-sex schools should be based on whether they promote equality and provide a well-rounded education for all students.
