As of May 15, 2009, there will be five seasons of Supernatural. Series creator, Eric Kripke had envisioned the series to go five seasons and struck the agreement with series stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles. So it seems as if this upcoming season will be the final season.
however, The CW officially renewed the show for a sixth season on February 16, 2010.[4] Kripke has confirmed that he will not be returning as showrunner; however, he will still remain as an executive producer. Sera Gamble, replacing Kripke as showrunner, has stated that the sixth season will focus on the brothers' relationship.
