How does season 2 of Vampire Diaries end?

Damon kisses who he thinks is Elena but it turns out to be Katherine, who gains access to the Gilbert house and cuts John Gilbert's fingers off with a carving knife before stabbing him repeatedly just as Elena arrives home.

Klaus becomes a hybrid, stabs his brother and puts him with the rest of his dead family. Stefan aggrees to be Klaus's wing man for the werewolf bit cure for Damon. Katherine delivers this and sees elana kiss Damon cause she thinks he's dying. Damon drinks the cure which is Klaus's blood and is fine. Jeremy is shoot by sheriff Forbes and bonnie asks the witches to bring him back. They do but warn her there will be consequence's. Jeremy can now see his old dead girlfriends!

Damon tries to hide Klaus' body but soon enough Alaric finds it and kills him , none of them knowing that Bonnie put a spell on him which put him in Tylers body, and not really dead. Rebekah and Elijah are upset, thinking Klaus is dead. Thinking that Alaric is after them, they break their promise and decide to kill Elena. While Matt and Elena are driving on Wickery Bridge, they end up in the water. Stefan comes to save them but Elena wants Matt to be saved first. Elena dies. None of them know that Meredith had injected vampire blood into Elena earlier when Elena was at the hospital. The episode ends with Elena waking up in transition.
