The Earth's atmosphere is a layer of gases surrounding the planet Earth that is retained by the Earth's gravity. Dry air contains roughly (by molar content - equivalent to volume, for gases) 78.08% nitrogen, 20.95% oxygen, 0.93% argon, 0.038% carbon dioxide, and trace amounts of other gases; but air also contains a variable amount of water vapor, on average around 1%. This mixture of gases is commonly known as air. The atmosphere protects life on Earth by absorbing ultraviolet solar radiation, warming the surface through heat retention (greenhouse effect), and reducing temperature extremes between day and night.

The atmosphere contains many substances. The amount of water in the atmosphere varies greatly depending on heat and pressure differences. Dry air is 78% nitrogen 21% oxygen .94% argon and .035% carbon dioxide There are also smaller amounts of Neon, Helium, methane, Krypton, Hydrogen and nitrogen dioxide and many more.

the basic term is "atmosphere" which loosely defines all of the different layers as the blanket that covers the earth. however each layer has a specific name (ionosphere, troposphere, thermosphere, etc.). there are five layers in total.

The layers of the planet earth are:

crust (which we live on)

mantle (mostly made of magma, makes up most of earths mass)

outer core (dense liquid, very hot)

inner core (dense solid, very hot, supposedly made of iron)

Underground pipes are used to circulate water or air to produce this type of energy?

Underground pipes are used to circulate water or air to produce geothermal energy. It is thermal energy generated and stored in the Earth.

Hoe does air circulate around earths surface?

Heat from the sun

What is an air vent?

An air vent is an opening, sometimes covered by a grate, which allows air to circulate around a room.

What causes air circulation in Earth's atmosphere?

Air circulation in Earth's atmosphere is mainly driven by temperature differences and the rotation of the Earth. Warm air rises at the equator, creating a low-pressure system, while cooler air sinks at the poles, creating a high-pressure system. This temperature difference and the Coriolis effect from the Earth's rotation combine to create global wind patterns that circulate air around the planet.

High pressure areas are created around the poles as cold air?

sinks towards the surface, creating dense air masses. These high-pressure areas are also influenced by the rotation of the Earth, known as the Coriolis effect, which causes air to circulate in a clockwise direction around the poles.

How do you circulate the cold air from a window air conditioner to other parts of a house?

Buy a fan! It will circulate the air!

How do you put circulate in a sentence?

A fan will circulate the air in this room.

How does air circulate around Earth's surface?

Air circulates around Earth's surface through a process called atmospheric circulation. This occurs due to the temperature differences between the equator and the poles, creating pressure systems that drive winds. The rotation of the Earth also influences the direction of these winds through the Coriolis effect.

What word means the air around the earth?

Updraft means the air around the earth.

What causes air to travel around the world?

Air travels around the world due to the Earth's rotation, which creates global wind patterns. The temperature differences between the equator and the poles also play a role in driving air movement through convection currents. These factors work together to create the complex system of winds that circulate around the globe.

How does air circulate through a gas fire?

Air circulates through a gas fire by convection. When the gas is ignited, it heats the air around it, causing it to rise. As the hot air rises, cooler air is drawn in to take its place, creating a continuous flow of air around the flames. This circulation helps to maintain the combustion process and keep the fire burning efficiently.

How does the air move around the earth?

The air moves around the earth as a result of pressure difference.
