Faye Dunaway, Mia Farrow, Sally Field, Jane Fonda, Goldie Hawn, Diane Keaton, Sissy Spacek, and Meryl Streep are a few actresses that appeared in several movies of the 70s. Honorable mentions include Linda Blair who appeared in The Exorcist at age 12 and Jodie Foster who appeared in Taxi Driver with Robert De Niro at age 14. All of the actresses listed eventually went on to win Oscars for the Best Actress in a Leading Role category with the exceptions of Linda Blair and Mia Farrow. Blair was actually nominated for a Best Actress in a Supporting Role Oscar but the Academy members later determined that other uncredited cast members such as body doubles contributed to her outstanding performance in The Exorcist, for which she was nominated, so they did not award her the golden statue as a result. Other misfortunes that happened to Linda Blair as a result of The Exorcist include her suffering permanent back damage while on set and receiving numerous death threats from protestors after the movie premiered, which caused the studio to hire 24 hour police protection for six months. Mia Farrow on the other hand has been nominated for several Golden Globes, BAFTA, and other awards, that resulted in 4 wins total but she has never been nominated for an Oscar in any category.
