In grade 9 french ib, everything is in academic level. So, if you take a normal french class, you are going to start slow but it will get academic as time goes on. This includes writing letters, learning all sorts of verb, etc. But, some high schools have a special program called "extended french ib". In this, there is only one french class, but it is extended. So instead of starting slow, you have atleast 3 test per month on verbs (talking from experience). But only students that are in extended french schools or french immersion, or full french schools can apply for this course.
