Well, if you mean platinum, then yes. Just like dialga and palkia in the previous games, you must reach spear pillar first. Once there, a portal will appears leading to the distortion world, where, after finding the 3 Lake Guardians, you will battle Cyrus. Once done, you will continue on and battle Origin Forme Giratina. In Diamond and Pearl, just get the national dex, go south of Veilstone City to a place called Spring path and continue on until you reach a cave. Once there, you will need to travel through different rooms until you reach 3 rooms with a pillar in each. Then, simply walk through any door and you will enter the room with giratina in (in Platinum, there will be a portal leading to an item that keeps Giratina as Origin forme in the normal wold, insted of altered forme).
