Once the superstructure (the hull and the interior bulkheads) of the vessel was seriously damaged by the iceberg that it collided with, the Titanic began to sink. When sinking, one end of the ship goes down into the water and the other half is lifted upward, out of the water. With damage to the superstructure, the weight of the rising half broke the vessel in two. And then it crashed into the bottom of the ocean, breaking it apart further.
Well the Titanic hits the iceberg, which scrapes the ship in 6 places. Water gushes in through the openings. The compartments flood one by one. Which weighs the ship down and starts to pull it under. The front funnel collapses. Then, as the stern rises the other funnels also start to crash under the strain. The strain of the ship is so great that she breaks apart and balances on the water for several minutes before plunging fully underwater.
hope this helps ;)
