A: It is a regular DC voltmeter but the AC is rectified and the DC component is measured and displayed as AC VOLTS.
AC 220/240 volts
The easiest way would be to convert the AC power to DC by using a rectifier diode and a filter capacitor. In that way you can now run your DC motor on DC.
from the wall it could be 115v ac, or in non American countries that use it 230v ac. internal voltages range from 12v dc, 5v dc, 3.3v dc.
rectifier circuit convert ac to dc signal
If you want to convert 24v AC into 12v Ac, it's simple. Just get a transformer to convert 24 volts into 12 volts. This is called a stepdown transformer. If you want to convert 24v DC into 12v DC, it's more complicated. First you have to change the 24v DC into 24v AC by a switching converter that changes DC into AC. Then you would use a stepdown transformer as in the former example. Once the 24v AC is converted to 12v AC, then you use a rectifier bridge to change the 12v AC into 12v DC.
the answer is dc volts are rectified from ac volts and the amperage will be the same unless you account for the slight drop from the rectifier. dc volts from a battery have no relationship to ac volts. you can derive ac volts from a dc source using an inverter.
You can convert 120 volts AC to 5 volts DC using a transformer to lower the voltage from 120V AC to a lower AC voltage, then rectifying the AC voltage to convert it to DC, and finally using a voltage regulator to ensure a stable output of 5 volts DC. This can be done using a step-down transformer, a rectifier circuit, and a voltage regulator.
A resistor, by itself, can not convert DC into AC.

You'll probably have to have a step-down transformer to take the 220vac down to 110vac. Then you'll have to have an Ac to Dc converter box to change the Ac to Dc volts. The converter will probably have an adjustable output so that you can dial in 12vdc.
DC
by the use of inverter we can convert ac to dc.
A transformer cannot convert AC into DC.
Batteries by definition have to be DC. While u can convert DC to AC, with a device called an Inverter, none is built into a car battery. and chances are your car doesn't even have an Inverter anywhere in it. so car is DC. in addition modern cars use 12 volts, and for the record, AC and DC are not a "type of volt," they are types of current, (Direct Current, Alternating Current).
AC - use a step-down transformer. DC - simplest but most wasteful, use a dropping resistor (in series). Otherwise it is costly.
