If you have purchased the correct cable you just plug it into the back of the PlayStation and into you TV HD Av inputs. My Sony TV has an HDMI and I just purchased a 6 foot HDMI cable to hook up the PlayStation 3 Slim to the TV, but since it also has other HD inputs I could have used them and still plugged the HDMI side into the back of the PS3. The PS3 does not come with HDTV connection cables, they are an optional item that you must purchase yourself. Target.com sells them as do many other stores and online sellers. The first thing you must determine is what kind of setup the TV has before you purchase cables. If it is like mine and has more than one kind go with the HDMI as first choice. Until you purchase the cable the one that is provided will still allow you to use the PS3
You have to go to your settings and correct them. You no longer will have HD capability with the A/V cables that came with the PS3. You really have no reason to use the A/V cable with a HDTV. The A/V cable will only give 480i or standard TV. Decent HDMI cables can be found at a reasonable or sale price and if thy don't work perfect just return and exchange them
yes it does because it is loading it up if your talking about the screen your ps3 to begin with is black so ya you ps3 goes black
With PlayStation 2 Component AV Cables or with Playstation PS2 AV Audio / Video Cable for 480i standard TV
Yes HDMI cables do not have to say they are for PS3 to work on the PS3 and HDTV. Not all the HDMI cables are the same quality and there are a considerable number of opinions about how much to spend on HDMI cables and whether the high priced cables offer any benefit. Personally I would purchase a Brand name HDMI cable of High Quality over one found where the shipping is a greater cost than the cable. There are definitely differences in the construction of the different cables that can be seen and felt in an examination of the cables. Whether the differences are a factor in the HD signal transfer from the PS3 to the HDTV is another matter. I have a Sony HDTV and since PS3 was also Sony purchased a Sony Flat HDMI cable at Walmart for $20 more than the other HDMI cables Walmart offered. I just wanted to be sure that I was getting a great signal for the Blu-Ray discs.
You currently can't. However, Sony have announced that they'll be releasing Playtv by the end of 2008. This will enable you to record digital channels, and hopefully High Definition ones as well.
Not much
In order for the PS3 to work best on a HDTV you need to have or purchase either an HDMI or a component AV cable and connect the PS3 to the HDTV. The PS3 will play on a HDTV when it is connected with the AV cable that was provided, but it will not be in HD
I believe the AV should come through the HDMI cable, but I'm no technician...

The AV cable that comes with the PS3 is not for HDTV set up. You need to purchased a HDMI cable or a Sony PS3 component cable and then it should work.

It depends what type of TV you have. If you have a standard TV, all you need is the PS3, and all the connection cables that come with it. Once there connected, all you need is some games to play. But if you have a HD TV, you will need the PS3, all the connection cables that come with it and a HDMI cable. This HDMI cable is what transmits the HD visuals onto the HD TV.
first choice HDMI. You should only get Sony PS3 component cables if you HDTV does not have HDMI input
You certainly Can. The only downfall about not playing your PS3 on an HD television is that obviously the quality of the graphics will be a lot lower. In the PS3 box you are supplied with an AV Cable that consists of three coloured prongs: White, Yellow and Red which all correspond to a coloured socket on the side of your television. Alternatively you can buy an adapter to convert these three jacks into a scart head which then simply plugs into the back of your tv. From personal experience I would suggest buying an HD television to get the most out of your PS3. If you are unable to use the AV cable as it comes and then the scart adapter as a last resort. Hope its helpful.
check first your satellite receiver if there is an HDMI jack. connect your HDMI cables from your satellite receiver to your tv tuner. if you don't have the HDMI jack, check the AV output jack. connect the AV cables from your satellite receiver to your tv tuner. you can use either AV or HDMI.
It doesn't need any cables to work. If it's not broken it works. If you'd like it to run, however, you need a power cord; basically a power cord from a computer is what a ps3 uses. Now, if you'd like to be able to use it, you need a hdmi cable or component cables. To use a wireless controller, you'll need a usb in order to recharge it's batteries.
Two options: For true HD you need an hdmi cable that runs from the ps3 to the television's hdmi input. Alternatively, you can use the video adaptor cable (av or yellow, red, white cable: yellow video, red right sound, white left sound) that came with the ps3. PS2's use the same cable. Plug the yellow, red, white cables into the av inputs of your hdtv. You will only have 480i video however. With an hdmi cable you will usually get 780p for games and 1080 for movies. You can also purchase a PS3 component cable if your HDTV does not have HDMI.
