That's an issue that the two of them must make a decision on. An 18-year-old may be considered a legal adult but a father and/or mother has the right to make the rules governing their household. If the rules do not suit the young adult they always have the option of living elsewhere.

yes, anyone who is 18 is free! An 18-year-old may or may not be of legal age, it depends upon the state in which the young person lives. In Alabama and Nebraska the legal age of majority is 19. In Mississippi and Washington D.C. the legal age of majority is 21.

It depends upon what you mean by the word "home". I assume that the question is posed by a person who has recently turned age 18 and not used to the rights and responsibilities of adulthood yet. As any adult, an 18 year old person has all rights offered under the law at all times. An adult person at "home" has many extra rights of privacy that are not enjoyed while in public, or in the home of another person, or a hotel. A man's home is his castle! For instance: He or she has the right to be secured from unreasonable searches and seizures. The term "home' in its full legal sense doe not apply to any former childhood residence necessarily, unless the adults have come to an understanding about continued residency. This includes the new adult who was formerly a child with different rights and responsibilities to the parents. The parents become either hosts or landlords at the time the child enters adulthood, unless the new adult moves out.

One responsibility that goes along with this right is to lawfully obtain the home. This may be by a lease or by purchase or gift. If an adult is living in the "home" of another adult, say a parent, (or a roommate) then that adult is a guest and has fewer rights than if it was hers or his own home. The rights are mitigated or reduced by the fact that is is somebody else's home too.

If you have a roommate, related or otherwise, then you must respect the rights of privacy of that individual, especially if you are a guest. If you pay rent, then you get more rights. If you are a non-paying guest, The host may set forth whatever conditions he or she deems correct and the guest may accept the terms of living there or else depart. (beggers cannot be choosers) One is free to go at any time.

One may pay rent and acquire rights by performing chores instead of paying cash. In that case a rental agreement should be negotiated that sets forth clearly the agreed upon rights of each party. Perhaps one may wish to have a certain area or room set aside for private undisturbed use. (quiet enjoyment). The agreement need not be in writing but it is better so that any disagreements over adherence to terms can be settled easily by referring to the writing. if the parties cannot settle the dispute, they may resort to a small claims court judge to get a ruling or opinion.

i think that if an 18 year old is legal then they have the right to do things their way, and if they feel they wanna leave school without permission then so be it,even though the rules clearly states that you must sign out first.

First off, the age of majority is not 18 in every state. Beyond that, it's your way or the highway.

Of course, maybe even late 17's! That's usual, you can even move out under 17! (By running away, or your parents kick you out.) lol
