Yes. They focus mostly on issues regarding negligence. Reference the Canadian Criminal Code S. 215-221 here: http://laws.justice.gc.ca/en/showdoc/cs/C-46/bo-ga:l_VIII-gb:s_219/20090714/en#anchorbo-ga:l_VIII-gb:s_219 The law has been left purposely vague to allow a greater range of interpretation. Leaving a child in a car for you to run to the curb and grab a paper would be okay, running into the mall for an hour in the middle of a hot summer's day, that's different. Beyond the criminal code, there are child welfare acts specific to each province.

There are currently no laws in Minnesota that specifically prohibit leaving a child unattended in a vehicle. There are, however, more broad child endangerment laws that would cover a child who was believed to be in danger from being left in a car.

Also, there are two proposed pieces of legislation in Minnesota that, if passed, would make it illegal to leave a child under the age of nine years alone in a vehicle if the conditions present a hazard to the child's health, OR the engine is left running, OR the keys are in the passenger compartment. These proposed bills have been pending since February of 2004.

Under 7 years of age for 5 minutes maximum. If another child 14 years or older is with younger children, then they are considered supervised and the law doesn't apply.

Is leaving a child unsupervised on a field trip out of state child endangerment?

It could certainly be termed that. The laws are different in different places, but this would be pretty easy to define. Leaving a child unattended for any length of time in a vehicle can be a problem. However, it does depend on the exact circumstances. Deliberately leaving a child alone on a bus, probably yes. Telling the kids to stay on the bus while you fuel up, probably no.

What is the legal age for a child to stay in the car?

The fourteen states that have laws that prohibit leaving children unattended in an automobile include California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, and Washington. Most states have clauses in those laws specializing that the child must be in obvious danger or (in the case of Washington) depend on what type of establishment you are going into. Penalties for leaving children alone range from noncriminal traffic infractions to second-degree manslaughter charges if the child dies as a result from being left alone in the car. Additionally, there is a wide age range of children that pertain to these laws. Please note that even if a state does not have a specific law prohibiting adults from leaving children unattended, state and local prosecutors have the discretion to criminally charge adults under existing child endangerment laws if there is a significant threat to the child. The reasoning behind most of these laws is that, children, who have smaller bodies, react faster to adverse conditions. Therefore, if a car is sweltering and they are unable to open the doors, then they are too young to save themselves. Have your kid open the car door by themselves and you can leave them in the car while you shop.

What is the legal age for leaving children at home in Tennessee for a couple hours after school?

There is no law regarding age. The laws deal with child endangerment. If the child is safe, feels safe, and knows how to take care of themselves in an emergency, they should be okay. Most authorities agree that at 12 or 13, leaving a child home for a couple of hours during the day should be okay.

What is the legal age a child can be left at home alone in Virginia?

Only two states have legislated a specific age to leave a child home alone, Illinois and Maryland. Generally speaking, the child must be safe, must feel safe, and know how to take care of themselves in an emergency. Most places believe that 12 or 13 is okay to leave home alone for a couple of hours during daylight hours. There are very few states in the U.S. with legal minimum ages for children home alone, but many state agencies have published guidelines. Georgia, Illiniois, Maryland and Oregon are a few of the states with specific ages mentioned in their laws.12 years of age appears to be the most common recommendation. Below in Related Links is an article entitled Home Alone Children Legal Age Limits state by state comparison with references. One guideline from a California child welfare representative suggests that 8 year olds and over can be left at home for a brief amount of time(such as just after school). The most common statement is that a child's maturity should be the determining factor and not just age.

Is there a law in Iowa about leaving children in cars unattended?

Here is what I found: "Although Iowa has no laws regarding leaving children unattended in vehicles, this practice is highly discouraged. During the summer months, the temperature in a car can reach 125 degrees Fahrenheit in just 20 minutes, even if the windows are cracked. A young child may also accidentally put the car in motion, causing a potentially life threatening situation." However, If a child dies or is injured as a result of you leaving them unattended you can be arrested and charged with child endangerment.

What age can you leave your child alone?

This depends on the laws of your state. Some states have laws against leaving children under 12 alone, others have different ages or no minimum age at all. As a parent it is important to consider the maturity and responsibility level of the child, as well as how long you will be away and if they can contact someone nearby in case of emergency.
