Henry Hudson was an explorer and navigator who lived between 1561 and 1611. He explored the Arctic Ocean and NE North America. He was such a renowned explorer that geographical places bear his name. (Hudson River, Hudson Strait, and Hudson Bay).

Henry Hudson's ambition was to find a path from Europe to Asia that did not require going around South America. He did not find a way to sail to China, even though he made four trips (1607, 1608).

For the last two, he was financed by Dutch companies. He explored the area now New York harbor. On his fourth expedition in 1610, attempting to find the Northwest Passage through the Arctic, Hudson's ship became trapped in the ice. In June of 1611, as he sought to continue on, his crew mutinied.

Hudson, his son, his wife, and some others were set adrift in a small rowboat and he was never seen again.

Henry Hudson was a great explorer that traveled a lot in the 1600s. He went on four voyages and lost his life when he did that. He met lots of friends when he traveled. There came a man one time and Hudson told him to kill some animals for fur to warm his crew.
