"Gear" can mean two different things. In engineering /tech speak, a gear is a way of trading power for speed, or the other way around, as is done in the gear box/transmission of a car for instance.
But "gear" in everyday language can simply mean "stuff", "things" or "equipment". You can have swimming gear, safety gear, camping gear etc.
The 1994 Pontiac Grand Prix gear selector wire can be found beneath the center console. The gear selector wire will go to the instrument panel.
Safety neutral switch
You must remove the instrument cluster to do so.
This is a problem with your instrument cluster. It's a bit technical, contact me at ANCTechnologies at hotmail
The orange arrow you are referring to is on the dash/instrument panel. It illuminates whenever the car is put into a lower gear other than drive.
The problem with mine was a small (blue) gear driven by a motor in the speedo cluster. the gear had a few stripped teeth which caused the odo to stop working. The problem I have is that to get repaired I have to take to a instrument repairer who won't sell me the part (and will charge me $125 Aussie dollars to fix.The gear is plastic and worth about 20 cents.Dave
The HOLD light indicates the driver has selected NOT to allow the car to shift into a higher gear (i.e., 5th gear -also called Overdrive). It is mostly used when driving uphill when the driver wants to prevent the car from shifting into a gear that is too high and possibly could cause the engine to lug (over-strain).
Check fuses Check wiring harness at transmission for corrosion or loose wiring
On a 2007 Ford Focus : That is the " upshift " light To maximize fuel economy , when the light comes on shift to the next higher gear
gear 3 That would be the drive gear, the gear that gear drives would be the driven gear.
a driven gear is a gear that controls the driven gear.
follower gear means the gear after the idler gear
