Water/snow or debris between the tire treads and the pavement, causing a hydroplaning effect, a decrease in the vehicles weight on the tires ( like from high speed) causing airlift and loss of traction, or wheel rotation lockup or over/under steering of the vehicle combined with excessive speed.
