Having a blade on or off the mower will make no difference to whether or not it will run. If you took the blade off because you hit something and it needed to be replaced then more than likely you broke your flywheel key and that will keep it from running
Find the sensor which is located under the seat, there will be two wires connected to it. Cut them off the sensor and join them together. The sensor is there for your safety, if u fall off the mower will stop running Most tractors will stay running if you put every thing out of gear.

You have to "safely" prop the front the front on jack stands. The blade is held on with a nut, the easiest way to remove is with a cordless inpact gun, but if unavailable, you can use a socket/ratchet but need to keep the blade from moving.

Depending on the mower some have belt driven generator . But most have a alternator under the fly wheel . It might also be a faulty rectifier. Hope this helps.
dirty carb causing gas not to flow to keep it running... youtube has videos... it would take a long time to type it all out.
Because mower parts deteriorate over time it is a good idea to keep a variety of different parts on hand. The blades of a mower will become dull after frequent use, so it is a good idea to maintain the sharpness of the blade with a blade sharpener. The engine oil must always be changed frequently, so it is a good idea to research or read your owner's manual to find out which oil your mower requires. Mowers also require belt maintenance. It is a good idea to measure your current belts on your equipment and have a few in stock for when they should snap or become too worn for proper use.
The fuel filter is clogged or the carburetor needs to be cleaned and/or adjusted.
remove the the bowl on the carb and clean with carb cleaner, be sure to clean the main jet. and the small holes in the bolt that holds the bowl on, if these are plugged the mower will start but not stay running
