∙ 16y agoheres something to try.I had this happen when i took home a craftsman.if the blades do not spin free w the belts loose., the bushings in the mower deck may be siezed or close.the should spin free w/ the deck disengaged.if they are turning hard they may be stalling the engine.the repair is remove the deck from the machine and invert thedeck remove the bolt that holds the blade on and there are bolts usually4 sometimes the bolts snap, dont worry the part you will replace held the blade under the deck and had a pulley on the top of it. the other sidelremove the bolts and remove the bearing. this is the whole unit . remove and replace both at the same time . bring w/ you to parts place and they can match them up. try to get the ones w/ grease fitings.arnold co. sells aftermarket.also its a good time to look at the mounting surface that the bearings were mounted to clean off and inspect for rust andweak metal.clean off and repaint w/ rustolium or the like and paint the whole deck if it needs it.clean off all grass underneith, this will help in cleaning it and grass has moisture and will rust out the deck. good luck, erich

∙ 16y agoTurn your blades off.
Clean/replace spark plug and air filter. If problem persists, open needle valve 1/8 of a turn for a slighlty richer mixture, Something else to check. Some riding mowers have a sensor switch that will not allow the blades to engage unless the clutch is depressed. The switch may be faulty. Not sure exactly where it is located, but since it is activated by the clutch pedal, I figure that is the place to start.
You can remove a rear wheel from your Husqvarna riding lawnmower by loosening and removing the lug nuts. The wheel should come off.
Most lawn tractors don't have any fancy clutch system, but simply use the belt to engage and disengage the blades. When the blades are disengaged, the drive belt is slack and there isn't enough friction to the pullel to drive the blades. When engaged, the belt is taught and the belt drives the blades. Tension is controlled by a spring loaded pulley. When you pull the lever to disengage the blades, you pull this pulley away from the belt. When you engage the blade, the spring pushed the pulley into the belt, tensioning it.
Normally you will start to hear a loud grumbling sound from underneath the mower when the blades are engaged. With the mower shut off, release the tension from the belt for the blades. Raise the deck so you can grab the blades from the bottom. You should not be able to rock the blades from side to side or up and down. If you can then you probably have a bad spindle. You can do this for wach of the spindles to check them all.

The smell comes from the new clutch and usually because you are riding it, or slipping it. Being a new clutch it reacts to almost any pressure. Stop riding or slipping it and this will stop.
The term "pull in the clutch" means squeeze the clutch lever to the handle bar to disengage the clutch. Hope this helps.
