If you are talking about the oil for the engine in a MTD snow blower, it is added to the gas in a mixture of 32 to 1 or whatever your MTD manual tells you.
My 15 yr MTD snow blower takes a 32 to 1 mixture.
You can buy two stroke oil at Home Depot or hardware stores and it tells you on the two stoke oil bottle( how much to add to a gallon of gas to get a 50 to 1 or 32 to 1 mixture.

Of course if you do the above.....it will screw up your carb...add all kinds of deposits to your valve's, piston, and spark plug (to name a few) since the MTD model 2M1 is a FOUR STROKE ENGINE!
DO NOT ADD GAS MIXED WITH OIL TO THIS SNOWTHROWER!
Rather...there is a yellow capped dipstick that unscrews where you can check the oil level...and add if needed.. Its on the lower side of the engine block. Make sure you are on level ground when doing this.

in the oil filler tube... ie the same place you check the oil level
20 ounces 5w30 small engine oil
My 5hp MTD recommends 5-30 oil.
10w30 is fine
More than likely the wire that runs from the ignition switch to the kill switch is disconnected, loose, or broken. The wire starts at the OFF position of the ignition switch and connects to another wire that shuts off the engine.
