In the manual, It said that synthetic blend oil should not be used in it, so I wouldn't risk it. I would just use brand name mineral based.
SAE 10w30
Per the manuel. Oil & filter should be changed at same time. (Every 50 hours or 777 miles). Remove dip stick. Put a pan under engine. Unscrew drain plug. Remove right hand side panel then door in foot rest. Unscrew oil fiter cover. Replace filter with bombideir. 10-40 wt oil for the traxter, but 5-40 for the max 5 speed. They want you to use the bombardier oil as they say it is special for the tranney and belt. (Engine and transmission uses the same oil and is changed together.) I didnt do this myself, but just had my dealer do it and it cost $105s! Think I will try it next time. Bogus Bill

Mark the level on the dipstick. If after driving 500 miles, it is lower and there are no external leaks, it is burning oil.Mark the level on the dipstick. If after driving 500 miles, it is lower and there are no external leaks, it is burning oil.
You can use gear oil. Transmission oil can be to thin, and leak out of the gaskets, Ive had this happen a coupple times. I use Amsoil synthetic chain case oil.
