any 30W oil will work,BUT...TDTO is formulated for use in Caterpillar powershift transmissions. Many 30w engine oils have friction modifiers present in the blend which will adversely affect operation of your transmission, whether a wheel loader or crawler.Any oil will work and make the system function in a pinch, but with a wet clutch(track clutch/steering brakes)being common to the transmission/bevel gear oil in a Cat crawler-you should run the TDTO due to its additives that help get the best life out of your clutch packs. The TDTO contains amounts of zinc and other elements that maximize life and give better overall performance.Pay now or pay dearly later.
TO-4 oil works with Cat TDTO TMS. This is the only oil that can be mixed with the Cat transmission drive train oil.
Cenex does manufacture a product known as Power Transmission Fluid. This lubricant meets Caterpillar's TO-4 requirement and exceeds performance requirements for Caterpillar TDTO oils. Available in 10W, 30W, and 50W, this product has been used successfully in all sorts of Cat equipment for years.
I would not recommend it, stick with the straight 30W.
30w, 10-30w or 10-40w
The boiling point of 30w oil can vary depending on the specific composition of the oil. Generally, the boiling point of motor oils, including 30w oil, can range between 400-600 degrees Fahrenheit.
