The basic difference is there are two 'power' strokes in the six stroke cycle.
The extra power stroke is obtained by utilising what would be waste thermal energy to heat air (or steam) and injecting this into the cylinder at the appropriate time to provide the extra power stroke.
There are claims of up to a 40% reduction in fuel consumptions and reduced emission.
However, there are addition complications with the extra parts, timing etc., required and subsequent increase in weight.
There are no commercially viable ones on the market generally at present though with future improvements this may change.
if you see the difference between valves
valves are use in four stroke engine, and ports are use in two stroke engine.
Four-stroke engines have a spout where you add oil to the engine. On two-stroke engines, oil has to be added to the fuel. (Four-stroke and two-stroke are also called four-cycle and two-cycle, respectively).
In a two-stroke engine, two strokes is one cycle. In a four stroke engine, four strokes is one complete cycle. A stroke is a part of a cycle. Remember that the "up" motion and the "down" motion each count as one stroke.
a four stroke has a timing chain and a cam and a two stroke doesnt a two stroke has reed valves
The difference between 2stroke engines and 4-stroke engines are pretty much the same regardless of where the engine is used. To read about it, check out the related question below.
It could be anything. The difference between the two is that in a two-stroke engine the piston goes back and forth (two strokes) for every ignition event (spark plug firing for a gas engine or fuel injection for a Diesel), while it goes back and forth twice (four strokes) for a four stroke engine.
There is no thermodynamic difference between them .
Explain the advantages of four-stroke engine over two-stroke engine
A four stroke engine has 4 strokes per cycle, whereas the two stroke engine has only 2 strokes per cycle. Since the 2 stroke engine has twice as many power strokes as a 4 stroke engine at a given rpm, the 2 stroke is capable of making nearly twice the power of a 4 stroke for a given displacement.
in my opinion a two stroke engine is a better quality engine as compared to a four stroke engine!
Diesel engines are still 4-stroke (unless and early Detroit engine which were 2-stroke) only real difference between gas and diesel is fuel delivery and ignition.diesel uses high compression, fuel atomization and heat to fire cylinder, where gas engines need a ignition source.hope info was helpfull.
