Johnson and Evinrude outboards manufactured prior to 1965, require a 24:1 ratio. This ratio works out to 5-6 oz. of 2 cycle oil per gallon of fuel.
Cadillac 1958 with the compression ratio of 10.25:1 should not run on gas below 98 octane.

I would say 24:1. They made a change from bushings to bearings around '65, when the ratio changed to 50:1. The info I know is correct for the 3hp Twin, as I have a '65 that lists 24:1 and a '67 that lists 50:1. I have read some other models made the switch earlier, but don't have first hand knowledge, and have never confirmed it. You should be safe at 24:1.
Your 1958 Johnson uses a 24 to 1 mixture.

All Johnson and Evinrude outboards manufactured prior to 1965 require a 24:1 ratio. The model CD-15 has always been one of my personal favorites, take care of it, and enjoy it.
1958-1959. The correct terminology is muzzle break.
The FLH had a higher compression ratio and hence more power than the FL. The FLH can be identified by having 7 cooling fins cast into the head to disipate the additional heat generated by the increased compression.
