45 mpg, claim is 50mpg

From personal experience with my 2007 VLX, I usually get around 52 mpg with a mix of riding 80% city and 20% highway. If you can stay down around 65 mph on the highway (fat chance in California), the bike can easily do as well or better than 55 mpg. But, I've noticed that for every 5 mph you ride above that speed, you lose about 2-3 mpg since the bike is no longer operating at its optimal level.
