Remove the Phillips head screw behind the seat, lift the back of the seat up to clear obstaacles, and slide the seat to the rear to unhook the front.

Well, the above answer is correct for some models. It really depends on what model you have. Saying that you have a Harley is very vague
2007 or newer FXST two up seat often comes stock with a sorta large slot headed screw a coin will work to turn it. A 10$ stupid part so keep it tight and check it often. Don't use red lock tight on it unless you fill like burning the paint off your fender to get to the battery or wireing. Also when replacing it "two up seat" make sure the front tab is under the correct strap. You might have to bend the seat to get it in correct. ST
To remove the seat on a Harley Davidson Road King, you must unscrew the Philips head screw that is directly behind the seat. Then, slide the seat and unfasten the hook at the front of it.

Remove the rear seat screw. Then pull the rear seat to the rear and slightly up. It is held in by two metal tabs that slip under the front seat lip.

Unscrew the rear chrome screw on top of fender and a screw on left and right side of seat and pull up and back and remove.
There are 3 flat head screws to remove. One is at the rear of the passenger seat. one each under the side flaps of the seat. after removing the 3 screws, pull seat to the rear to remove from tongue.
Remove seat, un bolt the battery, pull up and remove. Put a new one in, bolt the two knots and replace the seat!
