Remove the flywheel cover. Inside it you can see the points which can be adjusted by a screw which is there for this purpose. Loosen it a little using a flat bladed screwdriver. The gap can be widened or narrowed by placing the flat blade of a screwdriver into the gap. The timing mark is labelled F, this should be lined up on the flywheel so that it is level with the V mark on the crankcase. The gap should be between .012 to .016 inches. When you are done tighten the little screw again. In case the points are old and much worn they will not line up properly against the F mark, in that case you must buy new points. You have to remove the flywheel in order to change them. This is not difficult to do.
