MDF is a very versatile product. We use it to do paint grade cabinetry and closet/pantry packs. They also use it for interior trim, base and crown moulding, door casing, window wrap, wainscotting, etc. It takes paint very nicely and you can get a good gloss if you know what you are doing. It is easy to work with and can hold a sharp edge or take a router well. It is heavy- which isn't always good, but comes in many different thicknesses. Always wear a mask when working with it, I find that it irritates my skin and lungs. Do not burn it either- it has glues that have strong fumes.
