A drawing template file contains standard settings. Select one of the template files supplied, or create your own template files.
Drawing template files have a .dwt file extension.
When you create a new drawing based on an existing template file and make changes, the changes in the new drawing do not affect the template file. You can use one of the template files supplied with the program, or you can create your own template files.
Create a Drawing Template File
When you need to create several drawings that use the same conventions and default settings, you can save time by creating or customizing a template file instead of specifying the conventions and default settings each time you start. Conventions and settings commonly stored in template files include
Unit type and precision
Title blocks, borders, and logos
Layer names
Snap, Grid, and Ortho settings
Grid limits
Dimension styles
Text styles
Linetypes
By default, drawing template files are stored in the template folder, where they are easily accessible.
Recover the Default Drawing Template File
If the settings in the drawing template file acad.dwt or acadiso.dwt have been changed from the original defaults, you can reset them by starting a new drawing with no template and then saving the drawing as a drawing template file, replacing acad.dwt or acadiso.dwt.
If you specify the 3D Modeling workspace, the default drawing template files are acad3d.dwt and acadiso3d.dwt.
You can start a new drawing with the original defaults by using NEW to display the Select Template dialog box. To do this, click the arrow next to the Open button and then click one of the "no template" options from the list.
A hardware problem, power failure, or software problem can cause this program to terminate unexpectedly. If this happens, you can restore the drawing files that were open.If the program fails, you can save your current work to a different file. This file uses the format, DrawingFileName_recover.dwg, where DrawingFileName is the file name of your current drawing.Resolve Drawing FilesAfter a program or system failure, the Drawing Recovery Manager opens the next time you start GstarCAD. Drawing Recovery Manager displays a list of all drawing files that were open, including the following drawing file types:Drawing files (DWG)Drawing template files (DWT)Drawing Standards files (DWS)For each drawing, you can open and choose from the following files if they existBackName_recover.dwgBackName_a_b_nnnn.sv$BackName.dwgBackName.bakNote:The drawing, backup, and recover files are listed in the order of their time stamps-the time when they were last saved.
You can set password when you save a file in GstarCAD. The method is following: In "Save Drawing As" dialog box, press "Tools" button then choose "security options". In "security options" dialog you can set password for your file.
Use the function of GstarCAD - "Start>Export OCF file".
.dwg is the default drawing format of GstarCAD; at present, GstarCAD is compatible with ever version of .dwg and .dxf files from 2.5 to 2010, it is means GstarCAD is compatible from AutoCAD 2.5 to AutoCAD 2012. If you are using AutoCAD 2013, you have to exchange the file with GstarCAD and save it as earlier .dwg version before 2010. By the way, GstarCAD will be compatible with AutoCAD 2013 soon.
Use hopen command or use GstarCAD backup file manager to open, the dwh file will be saved as dwg file after you open it. See related link.
Do all the changes that you want in a normal new document, like adjusting dimensions and viewports ect, but then save it as an AutoCAD Drawing Template .DWT file, then you can go into the options and change it so that your template is the one that opens up every time you open a new drawing.
The font file that displays the character doesn't exist in GstarCAD. You can change it into other font file or copy this font file to font library.
Quick Multiple Files Save is original save style which is created by GstarCAD. It is also called "Auto and timely backup system" This save style make it possible to record the use's drawing process and can restore the latest drawing when power failure or terminating program. Auto backup system use an original file format (suffix is dwh) which is a new vector drawing format created by GstarCAD. Compared with dwg file it creases the auto backup speed. For example: the backup speed is about 1 second if the file size is within 10M. this make timely backup system be at real time(such as: make a auto backup each 5 minutes)
After the accidents, you can use "Start>Drawing Utilities>Drawing Recovery Manager" to open the auto saved files for recovering. If the recovery manager didn't start up properly, you will find the .sv$ file with same name under the auto save folder, change its extended name to ".dwg" to open it. Or, if the auto save file was not generated, you can find the .bak file with same name under the saving folder; change its extended name to ".dwg" to open it.
GstarCAD can export: DWG, DWF, PDF, WMF, BMP, EMF, SVG and OCF file formats. You can also open and save DXF, JPEG, TIF, PNG, GIF file formats.
Same to other CAD software, GstarCAD can switch drawings by shortcut of Crl+Tab. GstarCAD has a more convenient mode: file tab bar. The names of drawings are displayed on the tabs; you can switch quickly and precisely by click the file names.
Execute "appload" command then add lisp file to start group list, you also can add related sentence in "icadautoload.lsp".
