There is a nut just above the large black plastic string holder. Hold the nut and unscrew the black plastic string holder (it is reverse threaded). Once the string holder is off, pull the button on the bottom string holder until it comes apart. Wind new string on and put it all back together as you pulled it apart.
First buy the correct wire/string(if you do not already have it) .095inch gauge.
The cord is tangled inside. Take the recoil off and then you can untangle it from the inside. Sometimes to pulley will split at the seam.

40:1 is the correct mixture for the fuel and 2 cycle oil. 3 oz. of 2 cycle oil per gallon of gas. I have Craftsman Line Trimmer 358.795190 (Model #). It has the quick release shaft for other attachments. Hopefully this will help you.
