The best way to cut laminate flooring is with either a power mitre saw, or a table saw. Depending on which way you are cutting it. To cut the length, use a power mitre saw, with a 40 tooth+ blade, keeping the "good" or "top" side up. If it's a 3" plank, you can use a 7 1/4" saw, a 5" a 10" saw, and anything bigger you should use a 12" saw. It's dangerous to make a parial cut, then turn the piece around to finish the cut. To "rip" the plank (cut along the length of the plank to make it "skinnier") you'll need to use a table saw, with a guide, and of course the blade guard. THE USE OF POWER SAWS CAN BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, BE CAREFUL, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS, ALWAYS WEAR EYE PROTECTION, ALWAYS KEEP YOUR FINGERS AWAY FROM THE BLADE, AND DO NOT RUSH YOUR CUT. IF YOU ARE A NOVICE, NOT FAMILIAR WITH THESE TOOLS, I'D RECOMMEND HIRING A PROFESSIONAL LICENSED FLOORING CONTRACTOR. THE PRICE YOU'D PAY A PRO IS A LOT LESS THAN LOSING A FINGER, OR FINGERS, OR AN EYE, ETC.
You cut laminate flooring by using a carbide tipped miter saw, a jigsaw, or a specially designed heavy duty shear. The first two are within the capability of "do-it-yourself" while the heavy duty shear costs several hundred dollars or more.
If you do it by hand a tungsten tile cutter can do quit a nice job Or else use one of the routers especialy made for the job
