Early on the morning of June 6th, 1944 (12 A.M.) US, British, Canadian and Free French airborne units parachuted into the Normandy area. While they had specific drop zones, most ended up scattered throughout the peninsula due to their aircraft's taking heavy fire and other reasons. As far as the beach landings, at approximately 6:30 A.M. on the morning of the 6th, U.S troops landed at Omaha and Utah Beaches with British, French and others landing on the beaches designated Gold, Sword and Juno.
