Alliances- the 2 teams of alliances formed which were the triple entente (Russia, Britain and France) and the triple alliance (Germany, Italy and Austria-Hungary)

Imperialism- fighting to get the most land

Nationalism- the leaders of countries gave their citizens the feeling that they were better than all of the other countries
