The Roman Army was so powerful that it almost literally crushed its enemies. This caused fear and respect all over the country and the Romans were able to gain more land, civilians, and supplies.
Sort of. It's in the code that is stamped on an id pad in front of the right head. Once you have all the letters and numbers, go to: http://www.nastyz28.com/decode.php
If the letters TH are at the beginning of the 'Hallmark Stamp' it would be the initials of the manufacturer. If the T is separate at the end it could signify the year of manufacture (if English gold it would be 1968). Check on-line for Gold Hallmark Identification, but you will need to give all of the numbers, letters and symbols as they all have a meaning.
Everything. Literally, everything they needed to live and fight. Civil War armies had grown large enough that they had to have a source of supply, so every Civil War battle took place near a railroad or a navigable waterway, which was the only alternative means of getting supplies to an army. If an army, without a source of supplies, sat still in one place, it would have to "send out foraging parties", meaning send out groups to take food, for men and draft animals and horses, from all the farms in the region. Soon such a stationary army would eat up all the food obtainable in the entire vicinity. An army without supplies could move, and stay on the move, foraging (robbing all the farmers) as it went, but if an enemy force appeared the foraging parties would have to be called in and the army concentrated to offer battle. And, foraging only provided food, not ammunition, clothing, new weapons, and all the other supplies an army needs to operate. This was why the Confederate Army going into the north in 1863, which resulted in the Battle of Gettysburg, was probably not such a good idea. The Rebel Army had no supply line, no way of replenishing ammunition, and so, sooner or later, was going to have to return south, and when it did, it would look like a retreat. Thus, that move north was really a gigantic raid, not a true invasion, as there could be no intention to remain permanently on northern soil without some means of securing supplies. If Civil War armies tried to move away from their river or railroad supply line, supplies would have to hauled to the army in horse-drawn wagons. But, the horses pulling the wagon have to eat, so, the wagon must have food enough for the horses, and whatever room was left over could be used to carry supplies. The farther the wagon must go, the more food for the horses it must carry, and the less room for supplies. Past a certain point there could be nothing in the wagon but food for the horses. This was why armies were tied to a railroad or a river.
well they provided supplies to all the soldiers, like food, bandages, weaponsblockaded French ports to stop their supplies coming in, co operated with the army to successfully win battles and importantly protected Britain from a home invasion.
