well for a soldier it depends on their MOS ( Military Occupational Specialty) which designates whether or not they will stay on the camp and if your on a camp your whole tour the only threats are health related issues ( like flu or other diseases that come about from poor hygeine or and untreated injury anywhere from a scratch, bug bite or cut from something you may move around), accidents ( like walking around at night and a vehicle not seeing you the lighting is poor in most areas so the enemy doesnt have anything to aim at and because not a whole lot of funds are used to keep all areas lit so soldiers at night hours wear some kind of reflective belt that a vehicle can see when the car light hits them or improper use of military equipment ), and living or working around high towers which welcomes sniper fire and mortars especially if they look important like if they have a radar atop them or bright lights so helicopters or UAVs dont hit them, and last but not least other soldiers with stress or anger isssues that could possibly break down and fire upon other soldiers this is a constant threat because we all are required to carry a full magazine of ammo for whatever weapon they may have been issued. And for civilians theres an even longer range of threats but you can look online for statistics which all depend on where they live and what kind of lifestyles they have.

What is the Life Expectancy of a Soldier in Iraq?

The life expectancy really depends on what branch of the military you are in and what platoon you are in... Let's say if you are a marine, your average life expectancy is 1.5-2.5 years... Yeah, I know, it's low. And the army isn't much higher, it is about 3-4.5 years... I myself am going to be an Army Ranger, their life expectancy is good, but not great, it's around 5-7.5 years.
