When was the first plane crash?

The first recorded plane crash occurred on September 17, 1908, when Orville Wright crashed a Wright Flyer at Fort Myer, Virginia, during a demonstration flight for the U.S. Army. The crash resulted in the death of Lieutenant Thomas Selfridge, who became the first person to die in a powered airplane crash. This event marked a significant milestone in aviation history, highlighting the risks and challenges associated with early flight experimentation.

Why are planes important?

Back in the years of the 1600's, 1700's, and 1800's, nobody had planes. Ships were the only way to move across water to another continent. In 1903, the Wright brothers created the Wright Flyer, the world's first airplane. From there, people built up on the brother's plane design and ideas. Forty years later, there were jet planes, huge B-17 bombers, and small, but fast fighters. Now technology is crazy in aviation. Planes help us go anywhere we want to in much less time than any sort of public transportation. Many people own private planes. The president has his own plane, a Boeing 747-400, one of the biggest planes in the world. If today the world still didn't have planes, it would be like not having a time machine in the year of 8000! Yes, planes are important, people.

When was the war airplane invented?

The airplane use for the military just evolved based on the needs. When the airplane was very new, someone in the military decided that it would be a good platform to view the enemy forces. On 17 September 1908, Orville Wright took along as a passenger Army Lieutenant Thomas Selfridge for a demonstation flight and their plane crashed. Lt. Seldfridge became the first casualty of this new invention. That did not deter the Army. The U.S. Government bought its first airplane, a Wright Brothers biplane, on July 30, 1909. As the years passed by and the airplanes improved, more uses were found for them. Pilots began to drop small bombs by hand. Some used rifles or pistols to shoot at targets. By the time of World War 1 arrived in 1914 and 1915, airplanes were being fitted with special equipment such as guns, bomb racks and cameras for use by the military.Custermen
