I don't know, maybe just the Geneva Conventions of 1949 saving millions of lives by holding a international treaty to save the lives of civilians by declaring them "neutral". Or maybe to have rules against torturing, and abuse in prison camps. Or maybe just the small fact that a wounded soldier either at sea or at land, must not be killed, and must be rushed to medical treatment, while not distinguishing him because of his nationality.
